Retallack Resorts operate a premium holiday village, which is situated between Bodmin and Newquay. The site already offers fantastic Lodge, Barn and hotel accommodation with a Spa centre and Bar and Restaurant. The recent growth in the staycation market has meant that customers are looking for higher specification, cutting edge designer lodges, Retallack recognised this and approached Eko to help them develop a new luxury lodge. Eko chose Kepi and SPT as their partner to design, manufacture and deliver these units to site
Working with Eko, the team at Kepi and SPT have now delivered the first three units and the end client is over the moon with the quality and design of these fabulous new luxury lodges. One of the big factors in the decision by Eko to commission these Lodges is the unique modular construction methods used to produce them. SPT manufacture SIPs, which is short for Structural Insulated Panels. Without going into all the detail SIPs are a revolution in the Lodge industry. With incredible thermal and fireproof qualities they can be used for a type of modular construction not seen before. This means they are quick to manufacture and Kepi’s team are very experienced in using them to build Lodges.
Central to the Hampton’s design is the large central living space from which everything else feeds. It’s a huge open plan, living and dining space with a fabulous fitted kitchen with all the appliances you would expect in a modern home. And all this opens out on to a full length patio, with 5m bi-fold door access, giving great summer access and floods of light during the winter. It’s a true family relaxation area, with a six seater corner sofa and additional armchairs. And for formal dining there is an eight place dining table, always useful when alfresco dining on the patio isn’t appropriate or possible.
But back to the kitchen, which includes a utility area that includes the boiler for domestic hot water and feeds the radiators spread throughout the lodge, to take away any seasonal chill. The kitchen itself has a small breakfast bar and plenty of food preparation space. There is an integrated dishwasher under the one and a half bowl sink and a full height fridge freezer housed in a tall cupboard. As far as cooking is concerned there is a gas hob with full width extractor and an eye level integrated microwave with single oven below. There is also plenty of storage space. In fact the specification makes this one of the best kitchens you will find in a modern lodge.
Cleverly the bedroom accommodation has been split either side of the living space, with two bedrooms on each side. Both “front” bedrooms have sliding door access to the patio area. All four bedrooms will take double beds, with the added benefit that bedroom four will take two singles.
The master bedroom and bedroom three behind it have en suite shower rooms and plenty of wardrobe storage. On the opposite side to these, bedrooms two and four have use of a family bathroom with a shower over the bath. This layout works perfectly and with bedroom space for up to 8 people, all accommodated in large spaces with plenty of natural light, nothing has been left to chance.
The specification of the interior is well above what you would expect in a lodge. Attention to detail, quality of fittings and fixtures and all the furnishings really finishes off the Hampton, making the whole space a joy to live and relax in. A real, luxury home from home.
And the quality doesn’t end there. Each patio is surrounded by a safety glass screen, with chrome finished pillars and balustrade, making this outside area an extension of your living space, integrating your interior with the outside space. And the dark clad finish provides the foil for all this luxury design. You cannot fail to be impressed with the perfection that these luxury lodges deliver!
