Kepi International and SPT are working together to supply a local company in order to fulfil their contract to supply Lodges at The Bay, Filey. This company's decision to establish a working relationship with ourselves, for these new holiday properties, was based on our use of innovative materials and build methods, as well as our reputation and ability to manufacture high quality units to strict timescales.
“We are totally committed to modular building using SIPS panels as our base material” said Craig Carmichael Kepi and SPT’s MD, “We have a totally integrated product offer, we can make the panels and then put them together as kits using the knowledge and expertise we have gained at SPT. And we can then assemble the Lodges off-site using the construction experience of our Kepi team who are also skilled at on-site erection and commissioning. It’s a turnkey operation in the full sense of the word”
The Bay chose two lodge types which Kepi call the Nikki and the Tahiti. The Nikki has two Bedrooms, both with En Suite Shower Rooms and a Day Room and Kitchen combined. The latter is a great living space, big enough to take settees and other furniture. It has its own deck patio immediately outside, accessed by full height glass sliding doors around 4m wide. The kitchen comes with built in hob, oven, microwave and extractor. A one and a half bowl ceramic sink with plenty of kitchen and other storage completes the package.
The Master Bedroom is large enough for any size double bed and still has room for plenty of furniture. The En Suite has a good size shower, basin and w/c. The second bedroom is a generous size and great for use by family and friends when visiting.
The Tahiti is even more luxurious than the Nikki. It has a Living, Dining, Day Room combined with the Kitchen. This is a great space for open plan entertaining and is complemented by a massive 29 sq m decking area with sliding door access. The inside living space is a great area for formal use or chilling out. The two bedrooms take the specification up a notch. Both are very large, one with a walk-in shower and the other with a full size bath and shower combination. Each bedroom has its own outside patio accessed through double glass doors.
Craig is very proud of how these lodges have turned out, stating “not only are these units super-fast to build, their quality surpasses that of many of our competitors. Structural Insulated Panels (SIPS) are at the core of our advanced building system. Our panels are manufactured in a highly controlled factory environment, working to ISO 9001 standards.”
The SIPs panels are the perfect solution for rapidly constructing thermally efficient, airtight buildings, like these lodges. The panels, that come in various thicknesses, can be used for external and internal walls, roofs and intermediate floors, for virtually any design and application. The panels are very easy to erect on site and allow the building envelope to be constructed to a wind and watertight state within days of delivery to site.
There are many other advantages of the SPT Sips panels. You can construct virtually any style of building from the traditional to the contemporary with them. Each building supplied is structurally designed by our engineers and our build system has been tested to, and accredited with, the highest European Standards.
The thermal performance of our panels combined with their ability to maximise airtight qualities, means high levels of insulation are achieved. And our SIPS panels allow for a wide range of external finishes to be applied, including render, brick, timber cladding, composite panel or even stone.
The first Lodges are on site at The Bay in Filey and the reaction to them has been excellent. The customer feedback is that they are exactly what people are looking for at a holiday and weekend break destination, like this one on the coast. Further orders are under discussion and both Kepi and SPT are looking forward to further expansion into the holiday lodge market, including launching their own range.
